Simon Clulow studied singing at The RNCM, where he performed the role of Oberon. As a young singer, he worked in opera at The Buxton Festival, with English Bach Festival, Scottish Touring Opera and City of Birmingham Touring Opera among others.

As a concert soloist, he has performed in all the major baroque oratorios, passions and appropriate classical liturgical works across the UK and in Germany. He has been a Vicar Choral at Wells Cathedral since 2001, enjoying solo engagements with many local choirs. These include City of Bath Bach Choir (‘Come Ye Sons of Art’), The Somerset Singers (Messiah), Glastonbury Cantilena (Dixit Dominus/ Vivaldi Gloria), The Beaumont Singers (Mass in B Minor) and Millfield Festival Chorus (Mozart Requiem).

He has worked regularly for The Wells Cathedral Oratorio Society, including three performances of Messiah, Bach’s Lutheran Mass and The Christmas Oratorio. Walk out solos with the cathedral choir have included Haydn Nelson Mass with Dame Felicity Lott, ‘Now The Guns Have Stopped’ from ‘The Armed Man’ and Mozart Coronation Mass at Hong Kong City Hall and St James’s Palace. Other career highlights include ‘Sound The Trumpet’ with James Bowman at The Royal Holloway St. Cecilia’s Day Concert and Purcell solos at The York Early Music Festival.
