From its premiere to the present day, The Planets has been enduringly popular and regularly features in the top ten of the nation's favourite classical works.


Belshazzar's Feast is a cantata by the English composer William Walton. First performed at the Leeds Festival in 1931, it remains one of Walton's most celebrated compositions.

The society performs three major concerts every season. Our first concert in the season is usually performed in early November. This is followed by our regular opener for Christmas, Handel's Messiah. In the March of the following year we perform a third major concert.
